The accelerometer inside the earbud is already used for detecting taps, and is now repurposed to detect Cadence, Contact time and Flight time of every step you take. This information is broadcasted to the app, and turned into meaningful feedback to help guide you into exploring different running styles as well as informing you on your overall performance.
